The 5000 series has been improved since I had originally bought my 5002 in 2000. Now that I’ve seen and played the new 5000 pedals, buying the 5520-2 makes perfect sense. The pedals feel great and there’s just not enough of a difference when compared to the 9002. The 9002 and a new hi-hat stand was going to cost me a little over $600. The 5520-2 which includes the hi-hat stand is less than $450. So this is a no-brainer for me.
The only challenge now is that the guy at GC said the 5520-2 has been discontinued, but would look into it for me. Who knows, maybe DW will be blowing them out for cheap because of it. I’ll try and be optimistic…
