Double Pedal Order: Canceled

Filed under: Gear — James @ 5:52 pm

On September 2nd I placed an order with Dana for a Drum Workshop 5520-2 double pedal for my drum kit. (I used to have a double pedal but sold it to buy a high-end single pedal.) I went thru months before hand trying to decide which pedal I wanted and more importantly, whether I wanted one at all. In hindsight, I believe the decision to order it was based more on the fact that I’d always had one and less on whether I actually needed one.

After ordering it, I had almost two months to question the decision as the pedal was on back order. Well today I made the call and canceled the order, opting for a 9500 hi-hat stand (my current Tama hi-hat stand is very old and has a nasty squeak) and a few pairs of my beloved Vater “Piccolo” drumsticks. So later this next week I’ll have two items that I really need and have money left to spare. Although there will be no booga-booga in my future, I’m feeling very good about my decision.

Upcoming Films

Filed under: Film Related — James @ 11:19 pm

Along with a few other movies that are coming out soon (Harry Potter & The Goblet of Fire, Underworld: Evolution, X-Men 3), there’s two that I have high hopes for. Aeon Flux has always been my favorite from MTV’s “Liquid Television” and when I first heard that a feature film was in production I was very happily surprised. The Bloodrayne games are a lot of fun and with the cast signed on for the movie, it has the possibilty of being good. This trend of making movies based on video games is awesome. Me like.

Gaming Fun With Friends

Filed under: Gaming — James @ 2:06 pm

I enjoy PC games a lot and what I like even more is playing them with friends. Playing games on the internet with anonymous chumps doesn’t appeal to me in the least bit. I’ve found that 99% of the people out on the internet playing multiplayer games are assholes. They cheat, are unfriendly and unhealthily competitive. Many of them have no social life, job or girlfriend and can sit around all day getting so good at a game that it’s no fun for everyone else. There’s nothing more frustrating than joining a server and getting killed 5 seconds after spawning, over and over again. Yeah, that’s fun! Not.

Last Sunday Rowan, Mike, Allison and I played Half-Life2 Deathmatch at our house and it was simply a blast. We had some wine, a little pizza and enjoyed the afternoon/evening running around in our little virtual world. It’s these times in life that I treasure and I hope we can do it again soon. Next time I’ll take some screen captures and post them.
