Random Stuff

…in no particular order:

The new Winger album “IV” and the new self-titled Spock’s Beard album are both absolutely killer! I love them both, top to bottom.

Amy’s father Chris went and got a growler filled for me with the sweet nectar of life, also known as Blue & Gray Brewing’s “Falmouth American Pale Ale”. He’s a good man indeed. Thank you Mr. Law!! And thanks also goes of course to Amy for bringing it home to me from Fredericksburg!

Allison and I went and saw “The Illusionist” on Friday and it was really good. I highly recommend catching it if it is still in theaters where you are. There is no doubt we will own this one once released on DVD. We also watched the classic “Shaun of the Dead” twice because we can never see that film enough. “Yeah boyyyyeeeeeee!” We also watched a mess of “Dead Like Me” episodes because it’s a great show and Mandy Patinkin rocks.

Amy, Allison and I all have shiny new cell phones and they so totally kick ass (we’re on a family plan). They’re all the Motorola L2 which is essentially the “SLVR” in silver and without the camera. Thanks goes to Rowan for the tip on Cingular’s fall special on these phones. I personally am really happy with this phone, more features than I’d ever need.

My mom is now on broadband! How cool is that? I am excited for her because not only can we now keep in better touch but I know first hand how much dial-up totally sucks.

Meb and I are slowly getting all our new gear and setups dialed in. We’ve got a couple of gigs coming up in January and March scheduled and a lot of work to do before then. I’ll post more about those shows as the dates get closer.

Porcupine Tree Stuff

Filed under: New Music and Video — James @ 4:45 pm

Today was an exciting day because the FedEx courier brought items of pure joy just for me! Those items were shipped from my brother Tom as early birthday presents and included both a Porcupine Tree shirt and DVD. The shirt is super cool and is something I’ll most definitely wear. And the “Arriving somewhere…” DVD is just amazing! If there are any drummers reading this that haven’t heard the drumming mastery that is Gavin Harrison’s playing, you are not living. No, seriously!

Thanks Tom for making my day!

New Radio, New Spock’s Beard

Filed under: Misc. Updates,New Music and Video — James @ 8:30 am

So after almost two weeks of not having any music in the car, my CD/MP3 changer was replaced yesterday. My Vue is still well under warranty so Saturn replaced it, no questions asked. But not having music in the car was killing me since that’s where I do most of my serious listening.

The new self-titled Spock’s Beard album comes out on November 21st and I can’t wait! They are such a stellar band and if you haven’t heard of them, do yourself a favor and head over to the site for some very tasty samples. “You know you like it.”
