Yes, I’ve got a couple snake bites in me at the moment. But I had to say that the new Winger album is just pure rock goodness.

Dead Reckoning

I have been listening to the new Threshold record “Dead Reckoning” a lot recently. It comes out on March 20th and I look forward to having the actual CD and artwork. Prior to hearing this new album I hadn’t heard much else from them. I have since checked out some of their earlier catalog but unfortunately none of it grabbed me (as of yet anyway) the way the new one has. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if this album does really well for them. The production is awesome and the material, although consistent in approach, has enough variety and dynamic changes to keep even me interested though out. The melodies are solid and sometimes very catchy. And a front man who wears a kilt on stage will always get solid props from me:

Rush!

Filed under: New Music and Video — James @ 7:05 am

2007 is well underway and the good news has begun to roll in quite nicely. As a 25 year fan of the Canadian trio known as Rush, I am EXTREMELY happy to pass on the following news to those who haven’t heard:

“On Monday, Jan. 15, 2007, Alex Lifeson spoke with Canada’s Rock Station about the new album. Alex stated the band came to LA on Monday 1/15 to mix the album and should be done by the end of the month. The album took only 30 days to record, the shortest time they have taken to record an album since A Farewell To Kings. Andrew MacNaughtan video taped the entire project, with the possibility of including a making of dvd. The band plans on launching a North American tour on June 12th or 13th, running through the end of the year, to be followed by dates in Europe and South America. To hear the entire 15 minute interview, click on “Rock Interviews” at therock951.com. – Jan. 19, 2007″

Go to Power Windows for more info. And head over to Neil’s site to read his notes on the new album.

Any new Rush material at all is a dream come true for me. And to have there be a possibility of in-studio footage makes me very happy. I’ve wanted to see how the band works in the studio for as long as I’ve been a fan. And a full tour too! I am just giddy!
