As my crackPod worked its way through my music today at work, “Tokyo Dream” from the Japanese pressing of Allan Holdsworth‘s “Wardenclyffe Tower” album came on and as usual, demanded my attention. This is definitely one of my favorite tunes of his. I then decided to do a YouTube search for any live footage of “Tokyo Dream”. To my complete satisfaction, I found the below vid from ’84. Although the clothes and haircuts are dated, the music will always stand strong in my opinion. My ultimate Holdsworth line-up has always been the trio with Chad Wackerman and Jimmy Johnson and this video is a fine example. Chad has got to be one of most musical and original sounding drummers I’ve ever heard.

I am very excited about the new Ayreon coming out Tuesday. It’s got like, a gazillion people on it. Some of my faves include Floor Jansen, Jonas Renkse, Simone Simons, Ty Tabor and Ed Warby. Check out the press kit and preview video here.
